Trent Valley Surgery
Patient Participation Group (TVS-PPG)
Your local volunteer Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a group of patients working together with Practice representatives on behalf of all the patients of Trent Valley Surgery (TVS).
We provide patients’ perspective on our health and care services, to ensure that the Practice puts its patients interests at the heart of everything it does.
All GP Practices in England are required to have a PPG, with each one determining its own priorities according to the needs of the patients, community and Practice. We comply with all the regulations of the National Association for Patient Participation.
The PPG is not an alternative to the existing complaints procedures of the GP Practice - and does not become involved in patients’ personal medical issues.
Our overall aim is to:
facilitate patients and staff working together and sharing ideas
encourage patients to take more responsibility for their own health
help improve the services offered by the Practice.
What do we do/how do we do it?
we meet monthly to ensure there are good communications between the Practice, patients and other health and care service providers
we contribute the patients’ voice to discussion about change or improvement of services at the Practice
we support the Practice in implementing worthwhile changes to working practices
we share two-way information and opinions between patient population and surgeries.
We would like to develop a programme of activities that meet the needs of patients. This may include carrying out patient surveys, holding health awareness and information events, and any activities that support the Practice in its dealings with other organisations and health and care service providers.
